The short answer
Choose a generator by what happens after you print, not by how the code looks. A printed code lives for years, so ask what happens to it if you stop paying, whether anything stands between the scan and your page, and whether you can change where it leads. The seven questions below take a few minutes and save a reprint.
Seven questions before you print
- What happens to my printed codes if I stop paying? Some services hand out a code that passes through their own link and stops when a trial ends. At Kuody a static code never stops, a code beyond your plan keeps working for 90 days after a subscription ends, and the free plan keeps 3 codes for good.
- Does the free code hold my link, or theirs? Scan the downloaded code with the QR code scanner and read the link it shows. A static code from Kuody holds your own link, so it does not depend on us.
- Is there an advertisement or a page between the scan and my page? At Kuody there is none: the scan opens your page, apart from a warning when a link looks like it imitates a known name, or while our team reviews a report about it.
- Can I change where it leads after printing? Only an editable code can, because it holds a short link. Editable and static codes
- Which files can I download? PNG for screens, and SVG or PDF for a print shop, which stay sharp at any size.
- Is it in my customers' language? Kuody's interface, and the pages your visitors see, were written in Arabic from the start, right to left, with English alongside.
- What is recorded about the people who scan? At Kuody a scanner's IP address is not written to the scan's record, and the server and the files are in Germany. Privacy notice
Try before the big print run
Whichever you choose, print one copy first and scan it with two different phones from where people will stand. The test sheet prints your code at several sizes on one page, and the savings calculator shows what an editable code saves when your link changes.
