PDF to QR code

Every kind of code

How to turn a PDF into a QR code

  1. Open a free account and choose “File”.
  2. Upload the file from your device, up to 20 MB, or paste its link if it is stored somewhere else.
  3. Give it a title, design the code in your colours and with your logo, and add a frame with words such as “Scan to read the catalogue”.
  4. Download the code and print it. Anyone who scans it gets the file open in their phone's browser.

What people see when they scan it

They scan the code and the file opens on their phone as you designed it, to zoom, keep or send on. No account, no app, and no hunting for the file in an e-mail or a chat.

A PowerPoint, Word or Excel file to a QR code

Upload a PowerPoint (pptx), Word (docx) or Excel (xlsx) file as it is. On an iPhone it shows straight away; on most Android phones it downloads and opens in its app.

For every phone to show it exactly as designed, save it as a PDF from the program itself (“Save as” or “Export”) and upload that.

Files with macros (such as docm) and the old formats (doc, ppt) are not accepted, to keep the phones that scan safe.

Where it is used

  • A product catalogue and a price list, on the shelf and at a trade-fair stand.
  • The instructions or the warranty, on the packaging instead of a paper booklet.
  • A company profile or a CV, on a business card.
  • A timetable or a worksheet, in the classroom and on the notice board.
  • The programme of a conference or a party, on the invitation and the badge.
  • Rules or a form hung in the office or the shop.

Before you upload the file

  • Keep it light, so it opens faster on a phone's connection.
  • Put what matters most on the first page: it is the first thing people see when they scan.
  • Anybody who scans the code can open the file and keep it, so do not upload what you do not want people to see.
  • For photos and clips there are better kinds: an image gallery and a video.

The file changes, the print does not

A new price list is out? Upload the new file in place of the old one, and the printed code opens it at once. And you see how often it was scanned.

The free plan keeps 3 codes editable, for good, and your file storage depends on your plan. Pricing

Questions about a PDF QR code

Is turning a PDF into a QR code free?

Yes, in a free account. It keeps 3 codes editable, for good, and the file's code is one of them.

How large can the file be?

Up to 20 MB per file. All your uploaded files together share the storage your plan gives you.

How do I turn a PowerPoint or Word file into a QR code?

Upload it as it is, as pptx or docx, and an Excel file as xlsx. If it must look the same on every phone, save it as a PDF first with “Save as” or “Export”.

Does the person scanning need an app to read the file?

They need no app from us. Their phone opens the file in whatever PDF reader it has.

My file is a restaurant's menu. Is this the right kind of code?

It works, but a menu code suits it better: a page made for phones, where you can change a price without uploading a new file.

Who can open the file?

Anybody who scans the code or is given its link. Do not upload a file you do not want people to see.
