How to turn a link into a QR code

  1. Copy the link from your browser or an app's “Share” button and paste it above. Any URL works: your website, your shop, a video, or your place on the map.
  2. In “Design”, pick the colours and the shape of the squares, and add your logo and a frame with words such as “Scan me”.
  3. Scan it from the screen with your phone to check it opens the right page.
  4. Download PNG for screens, or SVG, PDF and EPS for the printer.

Where a link QR code is used

  • On the shop door, to open your online shop.
  • In the takeaway bag, to open the next offer.
  • On an advert or a fair stand, to open the sign-up or booking page.
  • On a product's packaging, to open its instructions or warranty.
  • On a wedding invitation, to open the venue on the map.
  • On a slide or a class handout, to open a file or a form.

What people see when they scan it

They point their phone's camera at the code, the site's name appears, and a tap opens the page. No account and no app needed.

So that it scans the first time

  • A dark code on a light background. Pale or inverted colours trouble some cameras.
  • Leave an empty margin around it, and do not trim it.
  • A small logo in the middle does no harm, but scan the code again once it is added.
  • The size depends on the distance: a table sticker is not a street sign. Work out the right size

Static or editable

The code from this page is static and free, and works for as long as your link does. But if the link changes after printing, you print a new code.

Kept in your account it becomes editable: change the page it opens any time without reprinting, and see how often it was scanned. The free plan keeps 3 codes editable, for good. The difference in detail

Questions about a link's QR code

Is turning a link into a QR code really free?

Yes. The static code from this page is free, needs no account, has no watermark and never expires. An editable one lives in a free account, which keeps 3 codes editable, for good.

How do I turn a link into a QR code on my phone?

Open this page in your phone's browser, paste the link and download the code. You need no app.

Does the code expire or stop?

A static code never expires and works for as long as your link does. An editable one works while your plan covers it, and the free plan covers 3 codes for good. What happens if you stop paying is on the pricing page.

My link is long. Is that a problem?

The longer the link, the denser the code, and the larger it must be printed. An editable code stays simple however long your link. Work out the right size

Do you keep the link I type?

No. A code you create without an account is never stored. Privacy notice

How do I know it scans before I print?

Scan it from the screen with your phone first, then check its image before printing, and try one printed copy before the whole run.
