How to turn a YouTube link into a QR code
- Copy the link on YouTube (“Share”, then “Copy link”): a video, a Short, a live stream, a playlist or a channel.
- Paste it in the field above. Short links and mobile links are turned into one link every phone understands.
- Open “Design” if you like: your colours, the shape of the squares, a frame with a line such as “Watch the video”, and your logo in the middle.
- Scan it on the screen with your phone, then download it: PNG for screens, SVG or PDF for the printer.
What people see when they scan it
The video opens on YouTube, in the app or the browser. A channel link opens the channel, with its “Subscribe” button.
A video, or a channel?
A video for what is shown once: assembly, a recipe, a property tour. A channel for anyone who posts often.
An “unlisted” video opens for anybody with the link, so it suits videos meant only for those with the code, such as a wedding film on a thank-you card. A “private” one opens only for people you allowed.
Where it is used
- On a furniture or appliance box: the assembly video instead of a hard-to-read leaflet.
- On a food or spice pack: the recipe video.
- On a worksheet or a schoolbook: the lesson, explained with sound and pictures.
- On a property's sign or a project's brochure: a filmed tour.
- On a thank-you card after an occasion: a video of the day for the guests.
- On the shopfront and the business card: your channel.
On more than one platform? A social profiles code gathers every account on one page, behind one code.
Before you print it
Try it on someone else's phone to be sure it plays for others. Then work out the size for the distance, and check the final artwork with the QR code scanner before printing the whole run.
If the video changes after printing
The code from this page is static, free and needs no account. If you delete the video or upload a newer version, you need a new code.
Kept in your account, you put in the new video's link while the print on thousands of boxes stays as it is, and you see how often it was scanned. The free plan keeps 3 codes editable, for good. The difference in detail
Questions about a YouTube QR code
Does it work with Shorts?
Yes. Paste the Short's link as you copied it, and it opens on YouTube like any Short.
Does it work with an unlisted video?
Yes. Anybody who scans the code can watch it. A private video opens only for those you allowed on YouTube.
Does the person scanning need the YouTube app?
No. The video opens in the app if it is on their phone, and in the browser if not.
Can it open a whole playlist?
Yes. Paste the playlist's link, and whoever scans sees all its videos in order.
I uploaded a newer version of the video. Do I print again?
With a static code, yes. With an editable one you put the new link in your account, and the print stays as it is.
