Every kind of code
How to make a Bitcoin QR code
- Choose the currency: Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC) or Bitcoin Cash (BCH).
- Paste your wallet address as you copied it. We check its shape fits the currency, not that the wallet is yours.
- Add, if you like, an amount in that currency's own units, a recipient name and a short message.
- Download the code, then scan it with your wallet app and check the address character by character before you print.
What the code holds, and what it does not do
The code holds the wallet address, with the amount, name and message if you wrote them. Nothing else.
Kuody does not hold or move money, and sees no payment. Whoever scans pays from their wallet straight to yours and confirms it in their app. The scan does not pass through us.
Some wallet apps read only the address and leave out the amount or the message, so the payer should check the amount before sending.
Where it is used
- At the till of a shop that accepts crypto payments.
- On a freelancer's invoice, with the amount in the code.
- On the table of a creator or an artist at an event, for anyone who wants to support them.
- On the business card of someone who is paid in crypto.
- In a printed letter or page, instead of a long address copied by hand.
Before you print
- Crypto transfers usually cannot be reversed, and one wrong character can lose the money, so check the address in your wallet.
- Choose the right currency: a Bitcoin address in an Ethereum code does not work, and we refuse it before it is drawn.
- Write the currency under the code, such as “Bitcoin only”, so nobody sends another coin to the address.
- If you set a fixed amount, everyone who scans is offered that same amount. For amounts that vary, leave it empty.
- In a public place, check the printed code from time to time: someone may stick another code over it.
Why there is no example
We show no example here on purpose, since somebody might pay the example's address. The code appears when you type yours.
Fixed once printed
This code is always static, free, needs no account, and never expires. If you change wallets or the amount, you print a new code; there is no editable version.
Questions about a crypto wallet QR code
Does the payment pass through Kuody?
No. The code carries only your address, and the payment goes from the payer's wallet straight to yours. We do not hold or move money.
Which currencies does it support?
Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH).
Do you check that the address is right?
We check that its shape matches the chosen currency's addresses, not that it exists or that it is yours. Check it yourself in your wallet app.
In which currency is the amount?
In units of the cryptocurrency you chose, not your local currency. The amount is optional.
What should people scan it with?
With their wallet app, whose scanner fills in the address. A phone's camera may only show the text.
Can I change the address after printing?
No. This code is always static, so you print a new one.
