Higher levels survive damage but make the code denser. A logo raises it to the highest level automatically.

Empty space around the code, in modules. Scanners need at least 4 for reliable reading.

How to make a Facebook QR code

  1. Choose what happens on scanning: “Open a page or profile”, or “Share a link on Facebook”.
  2. For a page: paste its link from Facebook, or type the username at the end of its link. Any Facebook link is accepted, such as a group or a post.
  3. For sharing: paste the link you want people to spread, such as an offer's page, your online shop or an event's details.
  4. In “Design”, pick your colours and squares, and add your logo and a frame asking people to scan. Then scan it on the screen and download it.

A page, or a share?

A page code opens your page in the Facebook app if it is on the phone, and in the browser if not, where people follow or like it and see your posts.

A share code opens Facebook's share window with your link; they add their words and post it themselves. They need to be signed in.

When to choose sharing

It suits a link you want to reach your customers' friends: a giveaway where sharing is the entry, a charity drive, a new branch. Put “Share the offer with your friends” next to it.

Where it is used

  • On the shopfront and the restaurant's tables: your page, for customers to follow.
  • In the newsletter of a charity, a school or a club: its Facebook page or group.
  • On a fundraising poster: the campaign's link, shared in one tap.
  • At a trade fair and on the business card: the company's page.
  • In an invitation: the event's post, with its pictures and times.

On more than one platform? A social profiles code gathers every account on one page, behind one code.

Before you print it

Try the share code yourself. If the link shows without a picture, the cause is the shared page, not the code. Then work out the size for the distance, and check the final artwork with the QR code scanner before printing the whole run.

Static or editable

The code from this page is static, free and needs no account. If your page's link changes or the offer ends, you need a new code.

Kept in your account it becomes editable: you change the page or the shared link whenever you like without reprinting, and you see how often it was scanned. The free plan keeps 3 codes editable, for good. The difference in detail

Questions about a Facebook QR code

Can it open a group or one post?

Yes. Paste the group's or the post's link from Facebook instead of the page's.

Does the person scanning need the Facebook app?

No. The page opens in the app if it is on their phone, and in the browser if not.

Is the share posted by itself?

No. Facebook's share window opens with the link in it, and they tap “Post” themselves once signed in.

Do fb.com or fb.me links work?

Yes. facebook.com, fb.com and fb.me links are all accepted.
