Every kind of code
How to turn a location into a QR code
- Open the place in Google or Apple Maps, copy its link and paste it in “Maps link”. The short link works too.
- Or type the coordinates yourself, or use the button for your current location if you are there.
- Add the place's name and address if you like.
- Choose what the code holds: a “Google Maps link” works on every phone and is usually the right choice; “geo:” coordinates open Android's maps apps.
- Design the code in your colours and with your logo, and download it.
If the place is not found from the link
Some links, such as a map search, do not point to a single spot. Press and hold the place in Google Maps: its coordinates appear as two numbers with a comma. Paste them in “Maps link”.
Before printing, scan the code with your phone and check that the pin is on the right door, not in the middle of the building or on the street behind it.
Where it is used
- A wedding or party invitation: guests reach the venue without asking.
- The shop's door, the receipt and the business card, for those who want to come back.
- A property or building-site sign, pointing to the exact spot, not just the area.
- An event or exhibition ticket: the right gate, or the car park.
- A card by the door of a new home, for guests and delivery drivers.
- A camp, a farm or a holiday house with no clear address.
What people see when they scan it
A static code opens that exact spot in Google Maps, where they tap “Directions”.
An editable one opens a page with the place's name and address, and three buttons: Google Maps, Apple Maps and Waze.
A place on the map, or a website?
This is for a place on the map. To open your website, use link to QR code; for Google reviews, the Google review QR code.
If the place moves
The code from this page is static and free, with no account: the coordinates are in the pattern. If your shop moves, you print a new code.
Kept in your account, you move the pin to a new place without reprinting, and see how often it was scanned. The free plan keeps 3 codes editable, for good. The difference in detail
Questions about a location QR code
Does the person scanning need the Google Maps app?
No. Without the app, the place opens in the browser.
Does it work on an iPhone?
Yes, with a Google Maps link. “geo:” coordinates are for Android's maps apps, so choose the link if you do not know which phones will scan it.
Is the short share link enough?
Yes. We follow the link and take the place's coordinates from it. If it does not point to a single spot, press and hold the place in Google Maps, and copy the two numbers that appear.
Does the person who scans see the place's name and address?
With an editable code, yes, on its page. A static code with a Google Maps link opens the point on the map.
My shop moved. Do I print the code again?
If it is static, yes. If it is kept in an account, you change the place there and the printed code opens the new one.
